Living room decor
Comments (4)The perfect, clean decor-ed, living room....! 1. REMOVE ALL CLUTTER Get rid of sheets on coffee table and sectional Move toys, play mats, Xmas stuff and other general rubbish out Remove curtain rod off window Vacuum and wipe walls 2. COLOURS If you like contemporary and rustic looks - stick to the greys, reds, creams and wooden looks Arrange cushions artistically and in a colour order Make sure there are two of evey cushion. Don't have one odd one out Is the door able to be painting the same as the walls? 3. LIGHTS Are you able to get a chandelier or a lot of LED down lights? Don't get a floor lamp! 4. TV SET Built in TV Set hides cords, switches....etc... Looks much neater and organised TV Set at the moment looks way to low 5. DECOR THE WALLS Add a bit of ompf into the room by simply purchasing some large wall mirrors/Canvas artworks. 6. KEEP CLEAN Dust regularly, wipe blinds, vacuum, spray, mop...! ENJOY.! :)...See MoreDouble sided woodburning stove/room divider query
Comments (11)I think you're right to change your plans tbh, I think pic 1 and 3 would work. Another option is a suspended woodburner. It's obviously not a divide but it gives you the break in the ceiling so acts as one. The first one attached is from fireplaceproductsUK. The other 2 are just images from leotrippi and homedesignht to show how they can act to divide a room. A much more expensive option is a glass fireplace, this is from acucraft fireplaces. I'm not sure how easy it is to find UK manufacturers/suppliers though. Alternatively you can just break the room with furniture layout and ceiling lights. The lights if hung properly ie at differing heights, clusters etc along with floor lamps will stop that cavernous feel. I can't obviously see the plan but if you're really set on a divide, and they are great!, you could set it off a side wall rather than down the centre of the room....See MorePaint ideas living space
Comments (13)I'd paint white the TV wall in oder to make it visually higher and to hide the white color of the door, now the dark color under lines that it is rather low and different from two main doors color and height of third one. I like brown FP wall, it works good with sofas and will attract eyes visually raising the ceiling above TV furniture. And one more thing I'd think about: the 1-st photo shows that there are too much unconnected different heights (doors, mirror, TV furniture, FP wall, ceiling). Definitely some heights are needed to be connected. I'd put lower the mirror and the shelf above FP so that the TV furniture and the mirror up lines were the same height. To bring more colors into the room as it was mentioned above I'd pick up some colors from the art work for cushions and curtains....See MoreCurb appeal??!
Comments (14)Gosh, I've returned after a week travelling for work to loads more suggestions - thanks all! To respond specifically: - the house faces south so gets the lovely morning (and in the uk, sometimes the only) sun. - the husband has avoided putting plants in the planters due to maintenance and they're generally twee so comments here have confirmed to me that they will be coming out - love the idea of wooden boxes with the spiky plants and grasses - also like the concept of taking out the grass/bed/tree in front completely out and replacing with slabs - yes to lightening the windows - to the Barn company, I honestly don't mind the advice and I'd never seen sloping garage roofs. - nicking ideas from landscaping of new builds....great idea! - finally, Helen Scholes, I'm embarrassed about the spelling of kerb. Had no idea! Thanks again all....See MoreIsabel Robson
