Advice on Fitted Wardrobes/Fireplace

Looking for advice please on fitted wardrobes for this bedroom. The present late 70s presses do not have a backing. New ones would come out further, they would be 600mm deep. Undecided as to what to do with the 60s fireplace. If I take it out could have
wardrobes across the wall. There would be a much less deep one
in the chimney breast.

Hi Therese,

You could keep them as two seperate wardrobes and revamp to something more modern, alternatively you could get rid of the fire place and step out the two wardrobes and create one large wardrobe all flush and the chimney breast would work as a row of narrow shelves!

We have made room for an en-suite shower room to our guest room we went for the largest shower cubicle we could reasonably fit in. Found the nicest white tiles to make the best of the space. Fitted bifold shower screen feeling the space was too small for a wet room( too much drying off of the fittings and paddling water beyond the area). toilet opposite, and sacrificed on the basin, just a small wash hand basin. Our thinking being that these days people tend to shower rather than wash and the smaller basin works well for teeth cleaning and hand washing. it works well. Hope yours will too.

That's a working fireplace isn't it? I agree that the fire surround is probably not in keeping with your tastes and would probably look perfectly at home in a rustic country cottage, but just not for you. There are several options open to you, and if your a bit handy with the DIY, none of them need to cost much, it's just a little hard work. Remove the fire surround and see what dimensions you have with the actual fireplace, it might be that you can also remove the iron plate around it, thus leaving you with a much smaller actual fire. However, be aware that it will affect, the plaster, the skirting and the hearth, as everything is currently built to home the fire surround. You could go............at that point for making good the walls and keep it simple by having a floating shelf only, or another fire surround that's simpler. Loads on Ebay! Just make sure they're suitable for a working fire!

Hello Houzz Ireland, We are currently renovating a 1960's build - so as you know, there is a lot of decisions to be made!! So it would be nice to get some gems of advice from the experts to help us through this daunting task. Areas where we would really like some inspiration for - small bathroom downstairs. I would really like to do something fun with this room and although small, I think it could work really well with some funky wallpaper or possibly tiles?! I'm just not sure what to do with it. Also - pulling a whole house together?! Where do we start? We have the bigger pieces of furniture but how do I know what nest of tables goes best with a suite? Or what accessories will bring a room together? I'm due a second baby in 2 weeks time so any help at this stage would be so amazing - to guide me on the right interior design path for our new house.
