Design Dilemma Living Rooms

Cosy cottage help.

I would be grateful for any advice. I will include a pic of our living room. It has a brick fireplace (covered with dust sheets). I have a dark grey leather sofa and I dont want the room to be too pink. What would you suggest? I need rugs/decor/coffee table etc please help. Thank you

Sounds like a job for a handy concept planner !! ( like me !) Start with storage - in order to know what's needed and where - look at what you need to store ie coats/boots/hats/ from front entrance - kitchen equipment and implements etc in kitchen area , book, music, films etc ... Then look at adaptable things like fold down tables or coffee tables that raise up to be dining tables and folding dining chairs or bar stools that lower into dining chairs - which best suits the way you want to live/entertain guests ... How many bottoms need to sit on a sofa ? Do you have pets ? Then look at if you can expand outside that space . Can you add additional seating / eating space under a glass verandah outside ? Can you add a porch for coats and wellies etc ? Can you go up ? ie a mezzanine area for extra storage ? Then sort out stuff you have into - can't live without it - could modify to fit - could donate /sell - will donate/sell - needs to go to the dump ! ... That's a good start !! Over to you !

Adding width BEHIND THE BED - with a headboard (which doesn't have to be a "headboard"; it could be fabric, collection of mirrors, collection of pictures, a farm gate!, small chairs or stools) across the entire width. Matching bedside tables/bookcases/chests/ with LAMPS - useful storage for extra books, extra bedding, etc. CURTAINS always warm up a room. People will always feel colder away from home - provide an extra blanket or duvet to add to the bed. I notice there is no WARDROBE. Not really necessary for overnight guests (provide hooks on the back of the door) but useful for storing your out-of-season coats, etc. There is plenty of room behind the door. Buy one on eBay and paint it to suit your colour scheme.

Hi we need major curb appeal help! We are able to change the siding, we can paint and change the eaves or gutters, the windows have to stay in place but we can change the style or add grills etc... The roof stays (Timberlane Shakewood color) and our door is going to be moved. We purchased a 6 lite craftsman door. It will go where there is an existing window and will face the driveway and street. We do a lot of gardening so we were thinking of a cottage or bungalow look. We like the look of cedar shake siding and we also think a pergola in the front would help break up the space but would love any drawings or advice to help us visualize a changed look.
