One of the trickiest parts of a loft conversion is meeting the building regs, you have to have a protected stairwell meaning the stairs from the loft have to join directly to your existing stairwell and all doors off of the stairwell / hallway would need upgrading to fire doors.

The difficulty here is were you locate the stairs so they join your existing stairs / landing.

What sort of space are you hoping / able to get from the loft? Integrating the stairs is likely to seriously shrink one of your existing bedrooms

Hi, I think the stair case would just go directly on top of the existing stair case, I've attached a pic of the floor plan. I'm really just after an additional bedroom and ensuite. I've checking on examples on Google but can't really find anything with similar sizes.

Our builder suggested we get rid of the sittingroom walls and leave only the wall between the sittingroom and kitchen so we would in effect be walking from front door into the open plan sittingroom room. What do you guys think? We will not be having the stairs yet until we convert the attic in the future

New Velux windows in attic currently being renovated so lots of daylight. Will sand wooden floors. Considering painting both walls and floor white or alternatively floor a blue/green and walls white? Floor is 24 sq m approx. Low ceiling with sloping sides. To be used for fitness, yoga and relaxing! Any advice welcome!

We’ve recently converted our loft, putting in a bedroom and shower room. We originally wanted two bedrooms and a bathroom but it wasn’t until we had some builders round that we realised that there wouldn’t be enough space for two bedrooms. My advice would be to get some builders/loft conversion specialists round to have a look. Loft conversion specialists will be able to tell you if you have enough space for what you want. We didn’t have to change all the doors in our house because we had smoke alarms put in all the bedrooms, hall and landings.

Hi!

Judging by the photograph you have a modern trussed-rafter roof structure.

This means that if you want to convert the loft you will have to completely remove and replace the existing roof along with all the roof structure to create the useable space that you need.

It is possible to do this but it may or may not be worth the cost of doing this. Hope this helps.
