Hall/landing and stairs advice

Hi All,
We are in the process of renovating our hall, stairs landing, we have put in a new banister and had all the walls replastered. Spot lights are being put in.
There is a fair amount of light but it's a small space. I would welcome any advice on colours for the walls. All trim and doors will be white.
Also, while in the process, we have found oak flooring in the hall and I would welcome advice on how to clean it up and manage the edging - most will be covered by new skirting - but not everywhere, see pictures for details.
