Chaise longue refurb - which material?

Hi all, I saved this old family chaise longue and have started the long path to refurbing it.

No idea how old it is but I’ve already found 5 different kinds of material layers in there from previous refurbs.

I plan to strip it and sand all the wood and treat for wood worm.

Then I hit the part that is difficult for me. What colours and material?

What paint colour / type should I use?

And what material colour and type / pattern or plain should I use?

I have kids and it will be used as a sofa so the finish needs to be reasonably hard wearing and forgiving.

We plan to lodge a little time capsule inside it for the next generation who take it on!

Refurbishing an old piece is sometimes more fun than restoring it to its original condition.
I am thinking a hard wearing fabric in a darker color with some pattern int it would be good to keep the piece looking cleaner longer, because children will be using it.
