Lounge paint colour dilemma
The decorator is coming tomorrow and I still can’t decide on a paint colour for the lounge. I wanted to paint the fireplace wall Hicks Blue by LG to tie in with the sofa and the other 3 walls a more neutral colour but now I’m not so sure. I think one colour would suit the room better. It is currently a very grubby F&B String! One wall has large French windows leading onto the patio. The carpet and rug will be replaced. Not great photos - I can add more later. Thank you!

5 years agoHi Roxanne, good choice on the paint! Looks great! What if you paint the wall behind the fireplace in dark blue and paint the fireplace white? It will look very fresh and not overwhelming.

Actually, magnolia is a classic and maybe you're best to add colour in your furnishings/accessories, as you have with your new curtains. We need to see the furniture etc. as well. Comments (9)Hi Kate, you may not be allowed to plaster the dash as sometimes house fronts are protected. For colour try Indian yellow from Farrow and Ball. This strong colour is associated with your style of house and has the advantage or drawing the attention away from the dash and onto the lighter colours. ie. windows and doors. Comments (0)We recently put on an extension to our kitchen and although I'm not so much having trouble picking colours for the walls there, I do however find it difficult to match up the dining and living all of which are open plan .. the sofas in the living area are removable covers, one set taupe and the other set white, no problem there but my curtins were expensive and I'm reluctant to change them at the moment so really want something to tie everything together ..they are autumnal in colour ...I'd appreciate some advice on paint colours for the walls they dont have to be the same but would have to tone well together ..Thank you...See Moreminnie101

Brilliant choice of colour! I am personally very drawn towards the second picture with the fireplace in the same colour as the wall, although it is down to personal preferences.
I would go for a feature wall.

Did the whole room in the blue - made the decorator do one wall first though before I committed. Still need to put mirror back up and change carpet.Rozanne K

5 years agoI think new art is a good idea. We all like a little refresh of wall art every now and then, and I really don’t blame you. I think The Range is good for cheap and cheerful art, and surprisingly good. Wayfair are also good, and for the more special art prints I’ve found King & McGaw very stylish. Of course you could go to an art gallery and choose an original piece if budget allows.
