Utility space area

The utility cupboard in genius. Just want we want to do in a corner of our kitchen / diner. Could you please let me know how deep it is from the back wall to the front of the sliding door?

Trying to figure out how much space we need to carve off. Guessing more than 60cm given that’s the depth of a washing machine, but hoping less than 100cm?

A standard larder unit is 600mm and then you need to allow for pipes behind it.

The cupboard is 700mm deep and the sliding doors take up an additional 100mm.

800mm in total.

You could do a look like this if you choose the right linoleum. Be careful or it could look cheap. The black & white pic is probably tile but could be done in linoleum. Second is marmoleum. Get the real linoleum (not shiny)

I deal with a lot of laundry too, especially at times when the kids will bring me a weeks worth of clothing. Where I am we pay electricity at different rates depending on the time of day so if I don't keep it somewhat organized it will start to overflow because weekdays I can only do loads in the evening to save $. One thing I did was to install cabinets with doors above the washer and dryers. I just re-used ones from our kitchen tear out, but you can usually get second hand ones fairly cheap if you are on a budget. This keeps all our laundry washing/dryer needs tucked away. We also have extra batteries and lights stored in there and our first aid and medication in the other cupboard for us and our livestock. We also have a laundry sorter for darks/whites/linens. It looks like you already have a great set up for that with your bins. Not sure how old your kids were, but they can start at a pretty young age at putting clothing in drawers if label the drawers with pictures. I think my kids were about 5 when they started doing it. It wasn't perfect of course, but they would have to put them in the drawers after I folded the clothes. It helps if you don't have clothes that need hanging. My one teenage son still gets all his clothes in drawers because they never seemed to make it on hangers in the closet. I would designate a folding area for the counter above the appliances and the counter above the cabinet as where folded clothes stay until their owner puts them away. I'd also maybe put some hooks or a rod above your laundry sorter. This would allow you to have clothes that are hung put on the hangers until they are put away.

The only way to do this involves moving some cabinets. There is a lot of vertical space available opt 1) remove the upper cabinets near the window. Place the freezer on top of counter. Use the former freezer area to build in shoe cubbies. opt 2) Move the tall pantry cabinet up. Underneath the pantry cabinet, build in shoe cubbies. opt 3) move the freezer up to meet the bottom of the upper cabinets. Put she storage underneath freezer. You'll need to replace the counter with a smaller counter that will be over the washer and dryer only.

Ideas for a space off kitchen

Hi, Just wondering if anyone would have any ideas for what to use the spaces off our kitchen for. These are very rough drawings to give an idea of the layout. The kitchen/diner were renovated a couple of years ago, but budget restrictions meant we didn't come up with plans for the area at the top right of the drawing. The small room on the extreme top right has a sink and some shelves. We have been using it to store our paint and accessories while DIYing the rest of the house. The space to the left of this, we built a partition wall to separate it from the kitchen and we have a freezer, some shelves, hoover, ironing board etc there. While it is very useful, we feel that the usage of the front utility room is not being maximised, and the partitioned area is a bit of a dumping ground. We have a utility room for washing machine/dryer out the back on this floor, so we don't need that. Any ideas/suggestions would be really gratefully received. Thanking you so much, Jen
