Radiator in understairs loo?

Hello fellow houzzers, looking for a spot of advice please. As part of a bigger building project we are relocating our downstairs loo to beneath the actual stairs. (Current loo will be enlarged and turned into a utility). We’ll have underfloor heating in the utility and kitchen, which is at the back of the house just along from the new loo location. (It’s your typical Victorian terrace). So we’re thinking there is perhaps no need to put in a radiator in the loo; you don’t tend to spend too much (!) time in there and its (compact) location in the centre of the house with heated rooms / hallway around it should provide enough residual heat. Is this fair / correct / wrong? Anyone had experience of this and recommend either way? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks v much! Cat

    I'm thinking your thinking is fair/correct. :)


    We have a small radiator in our downstairs loo which we turned off years ago after a small leak (from the radiator, I hasten to add...).


    It's been off ever since and no one's ever complained about our toilet being too cold.

      I’d have thought it was warm enough too in there. It’ll makes visits quick if it’s too cold ;-)

      I'd agree, not necessary. Our downstairs wc had no radiator (Edwardian semi) and it's no problem. We did leave the door ajar at night during the "beast from the east" though, to be on the safe side and avoid pipes freezing.

      Thanks for taking the time to pass on your feed back everyone, much appreciated :-) Defo ditching the radiator option then. Now for all the other decisions on my list...

      Have you considered a small electrically heated towel rail with a timer - just enough to keep the hand towel aired?

      We did indeed go without the loo... no issues at all, one less thing the worry about during the build and no complaints about the cold so far! :-)

      Haha!! Ooops! 🤣🤣🤣 I can confirm, we definitely went with a loo ...and not the radiator 🙈
