Love the roof/ ceiling.

I am doing a similar project and wondered how thick the roof insulation is and whether it is sound proof or can you hear the rain falling onto it ?!

Hi, unsure of the insulation thickness, but the property passed current building regs. The roof is not completely sound proof, but not noisy either - the rain sounds great as you're drifting off to sleep :-)

That was most helpful. All the rafters will need replacing. Much of the existing structure will be altered or demolished, as it is in very poor condition. I would like to have as much access to the roof space as possible in the new situation. This could be used for storage and maybe to convert some of the space for living at a later stage. I think this would be easier to achieve with an traditional built roof than with a factory type truss.
