Design Dilemma Living Rooms Furniture

Help please with deciding on living room furniture

hey everyone,

So i'm sooo undecided on how to bring our living room together.

We painted the chimney breast choc brown and the fire place cream which I like the look of.

We have and a brown and flecked cream carpet and duck egg/ brown/ cream /gold striped curtains. The couches are yellowy cream colour but we may be changing them to cream and getting an L shaped couch.

The bookcase came with the place so we probably move that out and the sideboard is going in the kitchen where there is a glass cabinet at the moment ( ill also attach photo of the kitchen) and will be getting a different one for the space. The TV stand is a warm oak and the nest of tables are beech.

I can't decide on whether to get an oak and cream painted coffee table like this One http://www.greatfurnituretradingco.c...m-coffee-table .I saw it in a shop in dublin but they don't have it online to link it to.

Or else a light oak one see image attached.

I like the matching sideboard to the light oak coffee table but was unsure if I got both it'd be too matched. Our living room is north facing so a cold room so would want furniture to warm it up. Would get a rug aswell for under the coffee table.

Was thinking of putting floating cream shelves above the sideboard and then a nice picture above the couch at the back of the room.

I've attached photos of my living room and the furniture.

What do people think?? Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Seeing it as an almost whole, I do think now that I like the soft, patterned curtain for the room. It could become overly severe, and that would be enough to stop that happening. Second thought, you don't need a side table for the sectional, but you do need something there to hold a lamp -- silver or glass would probably be best. The stand could be very plain, a box shape, even, in the same finish as the wood you already have. I liked these from wayfair.com -- though I might change the shades on a couple of them. Not that they're bad. The last one is an alternative approach if you fancy a bit of colour a-poppin'.

No, ask away :-) I'm not a pro though, just kind of passionate about design and interiors and all that :-) Great cabinet. I'm really not opposed to mixing metals. You'll get a more eclectic mix. It is the result of going with what you love and not with what you think goes with something else. And that will give your interior your own personal style. Matter of taste. Some people really don't like it. Others do :-) Go for a fairly large coffee table. I would think at least 100 cm wide. Tape (news) paper together to the size of the coffee table you like and lay that on the floor. It will give you an idea about the scale in your room. You need it to be easily reachable from the sofas, since you have these high armrests. And your room can take a large table. If you can't find a large one you like, you can also think about putting together 4 smaller square ones for example. The one with the metal base (I took two from the Soul Lifestyle site) is on the smallish side. The black one is larger. Round fits nicely with the shape of your sofas. Not sure if I mocked up the sizes correctly, but I think the lovely side table is too small. The lamp is about 70 cm tall (again, I guestimated the size), but it does look small on that low table. You can paint the inside of FP opening charcoal and then I would go for a blue/grey and not greige. Those colors tend to be very dark. You have black furnishings and a blue/grey would look very fresh. Your art above FP has blue in it, so replace rug and get some pillows for sofa that will bring in the colors of the painting. Why not just put in some shelves, one big enough to hold tv. That would give a more open concept to room. If you need one enclosed to store components, that would fit also. I would not build up too high on the wall.
