Advice on position of kitchen diner layout

in process of designing our home with architect. House is north facing , originally first plan , kitchen was to back of house and we changed it to get more light , morning sun etc... now I'm not so sure as kitchen diner v open . also kitchen along one internal wall with island. how practical is this. any advice welcome , ideas to better define space or kitchen design , position.
