Hi, Does this painting work here and does fireplace need a mantle?

I like the painting, but the wall looks a little top heavy. Paint or tile inside the space behind the fireplace box. It needs to be black so it looks like it takes up that whole space. If you want to do a mantle, just put in a simple white shelf (like a floating shelf) that goes from one bookcase to the other. If you put in a mantle, you can continue the dark color out to fill in the space under the mantle, or add some molding under the mantle on each side of the fireplace & paint it white like in the 2nd picture.

Hi ...Zaz I am not sure what went on here in Houzz .... While I have been away ..(sneezing coughing sweating) Whatever it was Move on from it !! as best you can ... If it all fits in then why not. I don't think the desk will go with the bed or maybe it would work it the desk was painted. Do you need the desk or could you use a smaller console table for working/doing things from ? Not a fan of sliding doors would rather swop the door so it opens the other way if space is an issue. What is going on the shelves are they needed ?
