Dark brown blinds, dark brown windows

Hi all,

We are trying to get blinds for our house, I like the dark brown wood effect ones but everyone is saying it would make the room very dark. But I don't know, and I like dark but don't want to go overboard either. The kitchen cabinets are black/dark grey. Also, would white or cream blinds not look odd with brown Windows? Any advice much appreciated, pic of the kitchen attached.

Agree with alant1000 about starting from scratch, but not sure about white. They are some lovely either light grey, light green, or light caramel, which will keep the room warm feeling, and less stark. The wallpaper feature wall you presently have is far too dark for the room - if you want wallpaper, there are some lovely sparkle designs, or stick to paint and do a slightly darker colour than the chosen wall colour. Have you thought about painting the doors white? The dark curtains do not help either. Do you need curtains and vertical blinds? If you lost the curtains, the window would look neater and lighter. I have dark grey windows on my house - on the front we have a bedroom ,bathroom and sitting room that is over looked . I was thinking wood venetian blinds. What colour would you go with the grey window and what size slat? If you think there is something that would look better I'd really appreciate your feedback

I have to agree that glass film is brilliant- we used Purlfrost online. You can either pre measure and they will cut for you you or you can buy a piece and cut to your own specs. It arrives rolled in a tube. We've done two rooms- the living room with full frost and the other, a bedroom- with just the bottom half of the window covered which looks pretty modern and sharp. It was supposed to be a temporary solution till we got shutters organised but it looks so effective and fresh that we've decided to save the small fortune that shutters cost! The help line was great- they recommended leaving a gap around the edge near the frame for a beveled glass effect which did actually work! You can get different levels of opaqueness - we used the less opaque for more light but still private- or patterns or stained glass effect. Its really easy to apply yourself too, and apparently comes off with no damage to the glass at all, so good if. Works out really economical as well. Can you tell I'd recommend it?! :)

What colours of cushions,rug etc would match a dark green leather suit

If you enter green leather couch in Houzz pictures, you'll see lots of pictures...most will have a brown couch but lots of green in the room, so you'll be able to see different color combinations, style of rugs and pillows, etc. As above, your best bet is to select the rug, then the pillows. When adding pillows, use some solids and patterns for a nice look. Hard to provide specific suggestions without knowing your style.
