Quartzite counter edge help! Pretty please!

We are getting 3cm Taj Mahal quartzite countertops. I've included our plans below. What would you all recommend for the edges? We have dove white cabinets, and a dark walnut Island. I tend to favor decorative edges (have a cove duPont in one recently redone bathroom), but I don't want to over do it. The fabricator has suggested an eased edge on the counter with the stove top and a decorative edge on the island. What do you think we should do on the peninsula, and what are your personal favorite decorative edges?

Comments (16)I think this is a really nice kitchen - you've done a nice job. The only thing that is throwing it off are the two different floors in dining and kitchen area. I'd like to see the same flooring continued through both areas. I think you'll be very pleased with the difference it makes. Since you do not like the wood or the tile, perhaps a porcelain 12x24 tile would work for you. It's very durable, so you wouldn't have to worry about the Newfies scratching it and very easy to maintain. You'd could opt for one of the wood grains on the market or one made to simulate stone. We actually have some vintage cereal boxes that we are planning on displaying on the shelves (filled with cereal of course)!. Sarainitaly - I'm investigating thenIkea planner but it's painful to work (or maybe it's just me!). Here's a pic of the walls totally painted green now. Think the shelves will look great along with some pictures dotted around. It's the cabinets now that will b a pain! BTW it was pure enthusiasm that stopped me waiting until the water heater came off the wall to paint - lol. Comments (3)I deal with a lot of laundry too, especially at times when the kids will bring me a weeks worth of clothing. Where I am we pay electricity at different rates depending on the time of day so if I don't keep it somewhat organized it will start to overflow because weekdays I can only do loads in the evening to save $. One thing I did was to install cabinets with doors above the washer and dryers. I just re-used ones from our kitchen tear out, but you can usually get second hand ones fairly cheap if you are on a budget. This keeps all our laundry washing/dryer needs tucked away. We also have extra batteries and lights stored in there and our first aid and medication in the other cupboard for us and our livestock. We also have a laundry sorter for darks/whites/linens. It looks like you already have a great set up for that with your bins. Not sure how old your kids were, but they can start at a pretty young age at putting clothing in drawers if label the drawers with pictures. I think my kids were about 5 when they started doing it. It wasn't perfect of course, but they would have to put them in the drawers after I folded the clothes. It helps if you don't have clothes that need hanging. My one teenage son still gets all his clothes in drawers because they never seemed to make it on hangers in the closet. I would designate a folding area for the counter above the appliances and the counter above the cabinet as where folded clothes stay until their owner puts them away. I'd also maybe put some hooks or a rod above your laundry sorter. This would allow you to have clothes that are hung put on the hangers until they are put away....See More
