Get a piece of wide shoe moulding for the bottom trim. Add organizers and shelves, paint it white white with a coat of satin polyurethane over the paint, and add new hardware. It will be beautiful

Hi Therese, You could keep them as two seperate wardrobes and revamp to something more modern, alternatively you could get rid of the fire place and step out the two wardrobes and create one large wardrobe all flush and the chimney breast would work as a row of narrow shelves!
