Is this the best kitchen layout for me?

This is the first kitchen design we have gotten for our new build house. I'm looking for ideas or advice on it or how it could be improved.

Functionally the space around the hob is good, also good to have worktop next to ovens. Microwave is quite high tho,

if u are open to having sink away from window you could look at other options eg hob or sink on island,

Not sure the open shelving beside fridge works in this design.

Thank you! I have been considering putting the sink in the island as I think it looks great but I'm wondering how practical it is...

Hi Helen, The fridge position is ideal so I suggest you move the radiator to the other side of the door and turn the door so its opens back against the fridge. This will increase the feeling of space in the whole dining area. You won't regret the length of your breakfast bar so I wouldn't worry about the gap sizes, 1200 is an ideal but 1000 is more than sufficient. Could you turn the door into the utility so that it opens inwards and not into the kitchen area? It would eliminate having to manoeuvre round the door when open and reduce congestion in the kitchen especially with traffic flow past the end of the breakfast bar. Alternatively you could consider a pocket door which slides into the wall if there is enough space. Good luck!

Hello everyone, I have a kitchen (new build) that is much larger than I really need. Trying to figure out the best layout is proving difficult due to the position of the windows which are all counter height... designers are saying it is difficult to find room for hob and large appliances with two large windows. The red kitchen outline in the drawing does not work due to the height of the window on the left (it needs a counter underneath it, because it is too high up not to have one). The measurements are 5.2 meters (17 foot) by 3.9 meters (12.7 foot) The smaller window on the right we have bricked up so we could have at least one wall free for tall appliances. Any advice would be so welcome... i need to decide this week as plumbing/electrics are due in. The hob cannot go under the window due to building regulations and I don't want it on the island either. Thanks in advance for any recommendations/comments etc.

Sink in island - bear in mind that it could look messy unless you are meticulous.

Hob in island - can be social to chat to those seating while you cook. Perhaps think about induction.

They are just food for thought - best to discuss with your kitchen design company if you think they might work better for you.

Thank you for your advice. Is putting an extractor fan above the island an expensive job or is it easy enough to do?
