Hi all, we're having an extension and the dilemma is that the design involves a small WC with no window. I'm thinking of making the utility smaller, or taking some of the space in the kitchen so that the utility can be the same size but WC can be enlarged and have a window. Thoughts?
I'd keep it as it is. Would there be a possibility of putting a window into the porch or even have the wc accessed from the porch, rather than going all through the house and utility room to get to it?
Hi Kim. Looking at your staircase you would have enough headroom to enter your w.c from hallway (under your landing), which would mean, you do not need to go through the utility to use your toilet. The existing door to w.c can be closed off with high level fixed glass window, for the light to come through.
Thanks everyone. Jonathan's looks similar to what I came up with, Design a Space one looks like the current layout almost so may save some work. The porch has built in storage that we'd hate to lose, but good idea otherwise, Jen.
The short answer is that guest toilet don't really need a window, better use the space for other functions.
But looking at your plan, I'm not sure its the best idea to enter the whole extension space though the kitchen, this can really bother anyone cooking and disturbs the flow of space. Why not locate the kitchen on the opposite wall with a large island, and have the dining table closer to the door?
