New kitchen

Evening all, Just back from our kitchen designer and looking for any thoughts or input. Below is the diagram they've given me. Kitchen to the right. Island in the middle and then kitchen table in the empty space to the left. Looking at a grey (light/ medium) for the kitchen cabinets and the island in the blue. Going with a chunky grey handle (it's on the blue door of you can make it out) Help needed: Colour for counter top ? Dark grey ? I think anything light won't work with the grey of the presses. What types of presses or drawers are good / bad ? Any thing you wish you had added to your kitchen. Thanks in advance. Paul

Colours

My thoughts on navy - I love the navy you have selected,

i love navy with White and Wood. - see pic

Also remember grey worktop with reflect less light that lighter colour.

What floor are you going with?

Drawer - much easier find items within a drawer but more expensive.

I have seen a white marble effect counter top in a kitchen with mid gray and darker blue island and it worked really well. The veining was subtle but with gray tones and the white reflected more light. You could go with 2 different worktops also. A dark top over the mid gray and the white "marble" on the island. Good luck.

We've finally decided to change our dated kitchen and currently not using the space correctly. Both myself and my partner have been discussing ideas, layouts, colours, etc., over the past 2 weeks and we just seem to be going round in circles! We need a 3rd party to come and advise on the best layout for us. Should we get an external interior designer in to provide advice? Or will a kitchen company provide this to us? Should we visit showrooms to choose a design? We're clueless as to what steps to take to choosing the correct kitchen and layout, so would love to hear from anyone who has gone through this recently. I'm based in Meath, Ireland.

My new IKEA kitchen is being installed at the moment it's gloss, colour is grey blue ,my cooker is 90 cm a black rangemaster.im waiting for a stainless steel splashback just behind the cooker I haven't got a clue of what colour I should use for tiles .. behind the rest of the units.. please help 😞.

You should probably think of the floor covering in the overall plan as a light colour or dark colour may have an impact on whether you choose a light or dark colour for the worktop. Two different worktops, one on the island and one on the rest of the units might look well too. I like timber for an island but only if you don't need the worktop to be heat resistant and it's not near the sink. We've picked a dark grey for our island and will probably choose an off white worktop with a vein in it to contrast with it. Good luck with your decisions!
