Any advice on how to make my kitchen work ?
Comments (2)First and foremost we need to get you to declutter the space. Take and remove everything that you do not use on a weekly basis and store those items in the garage, pantry or closet. Once you have the room cleared you will have a better vision for what your needs really are. I would also remove the table and whatever is on the wall above it. There is a possibility you could use a smaller taller farm table as an island with a few stools that can slide underneath then add a few to the peninsula as well if you need that much seating in the space. My biggest pet peeve in kitchens is when the cabinets do not meet the ceiling. We all need as much storage space as we can get. The "display" area above cabinets is useless unless you have a fabulous collection of something to really show off. From your photo it appears you are only using it for extra storage. Perhaps you might find flush woven storage bins to use side by side for hidden storage (?) instead. Are you considering painting or staining your cabinetry and replacing counter tops? If so, you might want to consider a counter surface on the peninsula that hangs over on the side for added seating. Best of luck!...See MoreNeed help with shower in dormer bathroom
Comments (4)For the time being (and this IS only a temporary fix) try using a water based penetrating sealer on the grout. I stress water based, because solvent based sealers today are made to be "breatheable", meaning they allow moisture to transmit back and forth, while the water based sealers will repel water. You still need to address this in a more permanent manner (the glass door is a good idea, but it wouldn't hurt to remove the bathroom floor tile, waterproof the floor, and install a new tile floor), but this will help until you can afford to do what you need to do....See MoreWall colour to match with gold hex tiles for bathroom
Comments (2)Got the bath for free. Builder literally moved the wall frame to accommodate it. Concerned it looks ridiculous as its a tight squeeze so any ideas of what I can do to make this bath look ok in the room. I'm going to paint the tub a different colour. Don't say get rid of the bath cos it's not an option!!!...See MoreBathroom vanity unit too small for space
Comments (5)If it was me, I would centre it and only silicone the back. I understand your concerns about water going down the side. Realistically, though, as you will only be washing your hands and maybe teeth in it, there is unlikely to be much water gushing about. To detract from the fact there is not as much space on either side of sink, I would have carpenter either wall mount or put legs on the cabinet so there is space underneath and the unit doesn't look too chunky!...See MoreLibby Phillipps
