ms1zebra, Thanks for your comment and interest! River-rock finished aluminum is a great surface. Its unfinished textured top allows for increased durability for work surfaces. It is resilient with heat, stains, oxidation, but will show signs of use if heavy objects are dropped on or slid across it or cutting is done on it with steel knives. As mainly a lighting manufacturer, we do not heavily promote our tile choices, so we haven't made much of an impact on the tile market. Perhaps when folks think of aluminum as a material, they think about unfinished flat aluminum sheet, which is not a good or even available choice for kitchen surfaces. Thanks Judy. I know oak doors and skirting boards will still have to be cleaned but I think there is a bit of leeway with dusting them - dust doesn't show quite so quickly! My windows havnt been finalised yet at all so I have plenty time, i just don't want to feel like im in a timber showroom with oak window frames, skirting, doors and floors when in my living room plus when standing in the hallway there will be the stairs (paint and oak steps), banisters, handrails, and the skirting and surrounds of four doorways. Any other way of getting around it? Must I have skirting boards??!

hi everyone, dropping by to say us twins are off to the 'self build' at city west this weekend, decided on sunday so i can rest tomorrow. twin very undecided about all of this, she needs some reassurance, hard to find that in todays pace. not entirely sure who i could ask! anyway we are off to a top specialist hospital soon, very soon so we are getting our medical files all sorted right now. we have an extremely rare disease so we have to go out to get the help we need nada in ireland, i know i have a test lined up for the very first day on arrival, if they take any more lumps out of my muscle without anasthesia i will go nuts, yes my friends not for the faint hearted and i mean it, they cannot deaden the muscle, guess they have to see it wriggle!!!!
