Comments (9)Hi Louise, In a room like this I always like to keep the walls and ceilings ( including the small door and frame 1 colour...in this case a lavender. I'd start by finding colour chips that have the same colour as the carpet, and then go a few shades lighter but in the same tome. All baseboards and door to hall should be the same colour as the iron beds...off white. With the walls a colour you'll be able to see the pretty pattern of the frame. OR find a small scaled pattern of any of the shades of purple and the cream same as the bed frame) with the same fabric. Make custom bedding to match. In a small room 1 pattern works well everywhere. If you go the paint route, try to find fabric with soft gold, lavender, purple for a skirted table between the beds if there's room. You can put it on a cardboard table and base...found in some fabric or craft stores. Comments (1)Hi. I would try and go for a cohesive look throughout the house so it flows. Maybe choose a few colours for the walls that work together which could be different shades of grey for example (no pun intended!) or another neutral colour. Have a look at farrow and ball for inspiration as they make suggestions for colour matches. Paint all your ceilings and woodwork throughout in the same colour. Then pick accent colours for each room. Again these could be colours that work together. Have a look at a colour wheel to see what colours work together. As your living area is open plan you definitely need the colours to work together. If you chose a grey for example you could have an accent wall in a darker shade. I hope that helps. Comments (8)If you, admittingly, do not know how to decorate a room, then I would not suggest picking a bold idea and then trying to make it work because it probably won't if you don't know what you're doing, right? So I would not suggest doing wallpaper in horizontal stripes. I would figure out what style and color scheme you're going to, then pick a nice neutral color and paint. Comments (3)Very difficult to see clearly, a lot of clutter in the way, if you are doing this job yourself then measure the area(s), look up up how to measure your garden advice online, measure your walls, measure what you will retain such as the shed. Get an A3 tracing paper book, sheets of A 3 white paper, eraser, pencils ruler etc. If the A3 white paper needs to be increased, tape 2 sheets together. Draw the plan to scale 1cm to the metre for example. Put in existing paths, steps services, north. Now you have a very basic plan. What kind of garden do you want? How would you divide it up to suit your needs. Do you a patio for table /chairs? Do you want to grow some veg/fruit in raised beds. Or do you want a lawn only with borders and shrubs, place your tracing paper over your plan and draw your desires on that, do as many tracings as you want, until you are satisfied with the results. Use coloured pencils. The walls need uniformity of colour, the shed could do with reprinting...start researching materials, gardening books, magazines, online for ideas that appeal to you and suit your plot. Do you have a budget in mind? If you are not engaging a landscape designer to do a complete plan for you then perhaps a consultation would be a good idea, once you have got the bones of what you want together.
