Save my bland bedroom!

I'm redecorating my room and while happy with individual elements of it, it's all a bit bland. What can I do to bring it together and inject some life? I was thinking of wallpapering behind the bed but would the short wall look strange if papered? Budget is almost non existent as we've done a lot of work throughout the house. Any thoughts? Room is quite large and much longer than wide. Has lots of natural light. No furniture as yet other than bed.

Some nice bedside lockers and lamps - ideally with some colour would be a nice addition - you could then bring in that same colour with some cushions, into the curtains and through adding a rug on the floor at the end of the bed

I highly recommend (for anything you are considering purchasing) you look at the on line review and comments. Do a search putting in the name of the chairs and then "reviews" and see what people who have purchased them say about them. Might save you from a bad purchase if the reviews are mainly negative.

Hi Tatiana. As you haven't got an ideabook it would be great to have some idea on what styles and colours you like. The room looks lovely and bright, which way does it face? As the wardrobes are quite dominant I would go for something masculine in look but with feminine touches like the lamps, flowers, cushions, velvet, silk etc. so something along the lines of what I've pictured. If there isn't room for a sofa at the end of the bed I'd opt for a bed end stool. If you're not keen on 4 posters (although I might choose a simpler one) I'd consider a dark velvet bed with a feature ŵall or an oversized headboard. I'd also hang the curtain pole higher.

If wanted to add colour but didnt want to commit to anything too mad or expensive, can I suggest very richly coloured curtains or some big plush throw pillows in a jewel tone like ruby, or emerald green? A bold, warm, strong colour will add richness to the bed set you already have and is a relatively quick fix-plus, if you hate it, its not to hard to switch out!

Your bed is beautiful, rather than using colour, why not keep the existing curtains and enhance them and the bed by adding texture in the same neutral palette, perhaps adding texture through a grass cloth type wallpaper, which is not that overpowering could be used on all the walls, adding a rug, and one or two big fluffy cushions and a throw. Further down the line I would balance the size of the bed with as big a locker I could fit either side of the bed, and a bench/ottoman at the end. Good luck, it looks like a lovely space!
