We purchased a very dated, tired and dirty family home that hadn't been touch for decades. Using inspiration from Houzz, we completely reimagined every room and wall to a style more suited to a young family.
This project was our media wall installation. As you can see, the 70's faux stone fire surround, and I suppose the 'then' on trend stone media cabinet, was demolished!
The new media wall holds a 50" Smart television. Behind a hidden accessible panel, there's an AppleTV unit, a NowTV unit, WiFi router, and a games console for our children.
It's made a dramatic difference to our home, and it receives plenty of positive comments from friends and family.
Myself and my partner fabricated and painted it over two weekends.

Comments (15)Once again, carolins has taken the words right out of my mouth. I sometimes feel like a crusader for entertainment centers and lowering art! You have a dynamic room with so much potential. Your wall could look amazing with the armoire carolins has pictured above. Of course, lower your sconces so that they're a about 4" below the top of the armoire and about 7" from the sides. Your fireplace should be your focal point with your wall being strong but not competing. Rooms get personality from smaller accents but you have too many little things that take away from the great colored pillows and the picture. Be careful not to hang things in straight lines--top of pictures should never line up with tops of doors or curtain rods. I wish we could see your fireplace in another photo. Chairs should form conversation groups with the couch like Carolyn has outlined. I like your chandelier but you might think about lowering it or moving it above a dining table--it looks rather lost way up there....See Moreneed help for installing kitchen lights

Comments (0)The lower walls are knotty pine planks (5-1/2" x 3/8" x various lengths) installed years ago. They were whitewashed a few times and now fairly white. Ceiling was recently raised (vaulted ceiling with 2 exposed trusses). My delimma is that I cannot find the same thickness or width of pine planking and it doesn't look like I will be able to. I wanted to continue this diagonal pattern all the way up. Now unsure what to do. Whatever I do, I want to make sure that one's eyes will continue to be drawn upward since I have lived with a 7 ft ceiling for way too long! I'm not really wanting to paint the drywall upper area white, but maybe. I generally like a contemporary look, but the exposed trusses just spoke to me when we opened the ceiling up. Not sure how to finish those either. Any ideas, no matter how far out they sound would be greatly appreciated. At this point, I am just stuck and can't finish this room....See More
