We have built a new house and I have picked these 3 lights from ikea for use in the kitchen - dining - living area of this open plan Room. I think the single light would suit the fireplace area and the chandelier over dining table and the billiard light over island area but am just a little unsure or should I swap them around ?
Absolutely don't swap them. You have very good reasons to picture them where you have. It's where they belong. In an open space like this, you can get away with a chandelier in the lounge as long as you have one over the dining table as well. If there's only one, stick with the dining room. That leaves the warm, elegant and relaxing light for lounging by and the double-ended rectangular light for better efficiency working in the kitchen. I absolutely love that pendant lamp, btw. Beautiful.
Love the graceful curves of the pendant and chandelier. The billiard light that you propose for over the island seems out of sync...more of a schoolhouse look. I would suggest going back to the drawing board for the island lighting.
I agree with michiganmemom. The other two lights have a totally different feel from the proposed island light. Have you considered trac lighting for over the island? You may be adding too many hanging lights for an open space.
