We are currently building a new house and are getting ready to paint the house inside.
My husband wants to stain the internal doors dark oak as we have young children and thy would be easier to clean and hide the handprints :) and varnish them but would we also need to have the skirting and architrave the same or could we paint them white as we have white crown mouldings on the ceilings with colours on the walls. I've tried to find pictures of this finish but they are hard to find... Also advice welcome or even if you have some photos for inspiration would be great.
Stained doors and painted trim are very common. You can see examples in the "browse rooms" section of Houzz. I think it works great! Of course, I have the same thing going on in my house!
