We would love to win this! Our bathroom is painted in a gorgeous matte paint and we love the finish and the colour but we need to repaint it in a paint more suitable for a bathroom as there are now streaks in the paint from the steam!

Mary, it has been a while since I read the comments. I think you can take your time with growing with your new decluttered kitchen. It is truly beautiful with just the changes. Don't go spend a ton of money, save it and go on a holiday to a state park or something you have always wanted to do. If your friends that you invite over for dinner don't love ...... well just coming over and visiting,.... then oh well. As long as you are happy, but no need to break the bank..... you did great already. I love it, if you do more, please share though? And to bamamom, I so agree with you! My own, awful, claustrophobic kitchen is LESS than 8 ft x 11 ft... yep that tiny and horrible. I have taken out the nasty, dropped ceiling and have the slightly vaulted original one now, but with pipes showing where the HVAC was put in after and then the repiped ones....... I did not know they plumber would do this, much less the others were there.... gag me. And no money to do it up even decent.

The trim in your rooms is outstanding. To "tie the rooms together", the one thing I would do is install chair rail the same color as the existing trim. The horizontal lines of chair rail will move the eye around the room and into the next room creating a flow. Chair rail is relatively inexpensive, easy to install and would be wonderful compliment to your existing beautiful trim.

Hi catbox/emerald18 - your kitchen is absolutely stunning - I love it - mostly because your style is the same as mine - only the tiles I've chosen are Henley Cool from Topps Tiles (sage green/blue). I've also had a few moments of indecision but I've had a picture and sample of the tiles pinned up for months and I still love them. I'd chosen matt slab style kitchen door fronts but I might be convinced by your photo to change to Shaker. I am also going for the wood worktop but can't decide whether to have a Belfast sink or not. What sink did you choose? I also can't decide on a splashback, but like white painted brick + something more cleanable by the sink and hob. Once again, I love love love your kitchen - I'm pinning the photo of it up with my tiles picture in case I get future wobbles about my dream kitchen

Hello there... I hope I can be of some help as I have almost an identical sitting room - I will just share with you my sitting room this year!! All the walls started out in Dulux Timeless colour so I wanted to add an accent colour- like you, I have one end of the room that is patio doors. So the opposite wall to those, I chose as an accent wall - I know a lot of people suggest not having an accent wall but perhaps having horizontal painted stripes of colour etc... But as I was doing the painting, I knew I would have made a real hash of that!! So the third pic is my first attempt at an accent wall - The Greene Paint company - colour Bassalt. This was nice but I just got bored of it - it worked well against the richness of the wood floor etc and was very much a statement but in a few months I just couldn't settle with it. After several coats of white I have now settled on Farrow & Balls colour Lamp Room Grey. I know this seems all very neutral, but from the second photo you will see I have gone for cream curtains with neutral vertical pom-poms - but, by doing all this, I can now change the accent colour in this room at the drop of a hat and quite importantly - INEXPENSIVELY! For instance, if I wanted to, for Xmas, if I was going to spend a lot of time in that room, I could a. Go for red and cream cushions and create a Scandinavian look! Or b. Go for silver beaded cushions and silver candle jars and have a winter wonderland look! And equally in the summer, I could go for pastel pink floral cushions and a vase of delicate roses to bring the garden into the sitting room or just keep it neutral with ivory roses and a hint of lime green. So my advice would be to keep the expensive things neutral and then you can alter the in expensive things as you go along. I also think one expensive piece in any room is a good investment - be it a huge oversized pewter bowl or a something similar - that again is neutral in colour but is a statement piece. How about a muted blue tone? A blue render would
look gorgeous in your location by the sea, and is also very trendy at the

How about painting your hallway in a gorgeous
light reflecting grey, and making a feature of your woodwork by painting it
slightly darker than your walls? Take a look at Dulux Night Jewels which is
available in 6 gorgeous shades. I’d suggest using shade 5 or 6 for your walls,
and 3 or 4 for your woodwork. Have a look at the link below to see what you

Alternatively, if you have a small nook,
alcove or smaller section of wall in your hallway, paint this in the darker
tone and keep your woodwork white. Either way, I’m sure your guests will be

Sounds like you’ve got a lot on your plate! I hope that you get your
flooring sorted quickly, and that once it’s finished, it looks fantastic.

It’s lovely that you’ve created a light and airy open kitchen and dining
space, I hope you thoroughly enjoy this space once it’s completed. In regards
to wall colour, take a look at Dulux Dusted Moss 2 - it’s one of my current
favourites! This colour will work perfectly to reflect light, but also creates
a homely and cosy space - perfect to relax in and enjoy. If you fancy creating
a feature, try Dulux Dusted Moss 1 on just one or two walls for added depth and
dimension.

Sounds like you’ve got some great ideas. A feature wallpaper in your
hallway will look gorgeous, as this will give a lovely warm and welcoming look
to the entrance of your home. It’s difficult to recommend which specific wall
to wallpaper without seeing a photograph, but I’d generally recommend either
wallpapering the wall opposite the staircase, or the end wall if you’re hallway
is quite long. Continuing the feature wallpaper into your kitchen will work
perfectly too, especially if you plan to paint the remaining walls white.

You can simply paint on top of your painted walls. If you go for a much
lighter colour, you may need two or three coats of paint for complete coverage.
Hopefully freshly painted walls will make a huge difference to your bedroom,
giving you a lovely light and airy atmosphere.

It sounds like you have an exciting project coming up, not only for you, but for your girls too! I would suggest green as a great alternative to pink, bringing energy and excitement to the space. Stick to pale, relaxing tones for the main walls as the base for your scheme, then add a few bright splashes of colour in the bedding and accessories for a fun, playful look.

Freshening up your bathroom will create a light and airy space - perfect for relaxing and soaking away the stress of the day.

My suggestion would be to go for colours inspired by nature as they create a feeling of serenity and peace; ideal for your bathroom. There are lots of soft muted greens and blues around at the moment to choose from. Teal is a beautiful rich tone, adding warmth and splash of colour! You can also bring the outside in with plants, combined with soft gentle lighting to help turn your bathroom into a totally Zen zone.

It could
be a really nice idea to add a feature wall to your scheme. They can really lift
the mood and feel of a room easily, and for relatively
little effort and expense. Choose a colour that you love, and reflect it around
your room within your soft furnishings for a cohesive look. The Dulux
Visualizer App is a great tool to try, as it will allow you to experiment with
lots of different colours within your space, without you even needing to buy a

You have a really lovely big space,
perfect for a family.

There are lots of clever tricks
you could try when ‘zoning’ a large space effectively. The first thing to
consider would be the flooring. To create a separate space, think about using a
large rug on the floor to segment an area for a specific purpose. Try adding a
textured rug to your living end, and turn this space into a cosy haven to relax
in.

The second thing is wall colour. Consider
having a neutral base palette that you can add splashes of colour to throughout
your accessories, or possibly even feature walls. Try and choose a small palette of colours,
and stick to it throughout your space - accentuating different colours in
different rooms. Dulux’s Grey Steel 3 would be a perfect calming base to use
throughout your home, and looks great in both period and modern properties. Introduce touches of Dulux’s Sundrenched
Saffron 3 to your living room, complimenting colours in your kitchen and adding
some warmth to your scheme.

In your kitchen, try a muted teal such
as Celestial Cloud 3 to a section of your wall, or through your accessories,
complementing the Sundrenched Saffron from your living room.

The third and final thing is
storage. For open plan living to work successfully, it is most probably the
most important decision to make. Whether it is boxes, baskets or shelving, a
streamline clutter free look is key. Storage shelving is perfect for
open plan living as not only can it keep your space clean lined and tidy, they
can also be stylish ways to divide room into sections and offer some screening.

We can
totally understand your dilemma - ‘Magnolia’ is certainly not for everyone! Different
colours can evoke different moods and feelings, so don’t limit yourself to one
colour throughout your whole house. Dark moody tones work brilliantly in
bedrooms, and have been proven to help induce better sleep. Our favourite at
the moment is Dulux’s Denim Drift.

Bright,
fresh colours are great for kitchens, and for creating a lively happy
atmosphere. I love Dulux Coral Canyon which is really uplifting.

Finally,
dusted blues and greens have amazing calming qualities, and are fantastic for
any rooms you want to relax and unwind in. Dulux Dusted Moss is a beautiful,
versatile colour that will suit most styles of property, either traditional or
modern.

If you
are cautious about using colour, why not introduce it slowly through your
accessories, or as a feature wall, as these can be easily updated and replaced.

I was one of the winners... it was a great experience, had a few online meetings with a designer, she took me through the whole design process including choice of furniture and colours and then was sent paint to do the project.... Haven't started doing the work yet as I'm waiting till after Christmas
