Japanese Garden - After / Before "a change is possible"

Our customer asked us to change his garden, although it had a beautiful azaleas sprouting every year. The space was surrounded by glass on all sides and was the connection between several rooms of his house.

We proposed to make a dry creek that would be crossed by a small Japanese stone path . He liked the idea and we got down to work. The change was without a doubt amazing.

Nice, I just find the central path looks too straight viewed in top image.

Thanks Jenny, probably a little bit too straight. Sometimes you found a kind of slab that no matter to arrange it. That's natural stone !!!

It looks amazing. I nearly went for a Japanese garden in my old house, I went as far as buying a book but then swapped for a meditteranean courtyard design! How easy are they to maintain with the gravel? Especially those with the contours in, does the wind not lose them?

We have mixed with Japanese and Mediterranean style with very good results. The gravel is not lost at all with the wind and the contours we use a special curb to such use. Usually gives more gravel problems cats and dogs than wind. Its really easy to stay gravel on site.

The picture above its a mix style

    Dear Jenny Waples

Thanks for your comment. The reality is that it looks right because tobi-ishi are also three straight, make a break and two straight, makes another break and three straight and so on.

Do you have any hints and tips for cutting a cloud tree?

  • Jardines Japoneses

To prune the cloud, it is better to prune with a certain instinct and prune in spring. Don't panic, the ground trees are stronger and accept almost all types of pruning.

Very nice and serenity! What is planted between the 2 boards? Moss? ( I saw some pots of moss on sale at my garden centre... so expensive!!!)
