How to make my kids playroom more stylish?
Comments (17)Simplify is always a good strategy with play rooms. The temptation to cover the walls with artwork and posters can add to the visual clutter. I would suggest a larger area rug to ground the space and create a soft place for playing on the floor. A medium colour with a fleck from other hues in the curtains and upholstery will help hide dirt and lint. I think you could definitely cozy it up with a warm wall colour to unify the space. Lastly, closed storage for the toys goes a long way to creating order from the chaos. You will have a lovely space the children enjoy and you find restful....See MoreDo these curtains go??
Comments (11)One problem is that your curtains aren't full enough for the wide window. Houzz might have a formula but I found one here: http://www.ehow.com/way_6038775_many-should-hung-double-window_.html. Also, try this: remove the tie backs and let the curtains fall naturally. That should help a little with the fullness. Then buy pillows that bring in those colors. You can also add color to that bookcase by painting it the same color as the wall for a more built-in look. Add more collectibles or books to the shelves. Then find a large graphic poster for that long wall. Next pull the sofa and chairs closer to the fireplace so that they have at least two feet on the rug. Pull the end table closer to the furniture. Drop the picture on the right of the window down about 5". It's way too high....See MoreHow can I improve the curb appeal here.
Comments (5)Flowers in those flower boxes would be a good start, and then I'd tear out the conctrete or whatever the surface is next to the house and extend the driveway further out, closer to the camera, to make up for lost driveway space. The down spout must be removed from he driveway. The steps up to the house seem to be a confused assembly of different materials and should be reformed into a cohesive entry stairway, with plantings flanking it, or pots of greenery/flowers on it. The garage seems to be a different color from the house and if that is the came, I would change it echo the colors of the house. In the foreground of the photo is an opportunity for some beautiful landscaping. You have your work cut out for you, but nothing that you couldn't do over the next 3 months!...See MoreWhere do i go from here? Needs a pop of colour but what colour?
Comments (13)I think your colors are restful so I would work with those and not pop a color. Maybe some interesting artwork that had some color in it, but I think you should go for a more elegant calm look. By the way, I like the chandelier you have with the fireplace. I think I would paint the lower part of your wall the same blue as is in the top part. Then I would add some black accents in glass and lamps. Curtains that have a sheen or gold thread would be nice....See MoreLaraine Clarke
