Painting my walls

I'm torn between painting my living room walls a sunny yellow or something more mellow like light green. I want it to be colourful and welcoming but I'm not sure if the yellow will be too bright? These are the colours I'm thinking of:

I think the yellow is cool but would look better in a bedroom! What's your current colour scheme (if you have one)?

Yellow is a difficult colour to get right a more golden yellow might work better.

Yes, we definitely need to see the fireplace before commenting! Actually, magnolia is a classic and maybe you're best to add colour in your furnishings/accessories, as you have with your new curtains. We need to see the furniture etc. as well. It’s a dark north facing bathroom and is a good size. In time, we will be knocking into it to accommodate an en-suite in one of the bedrooms. For the moment I’m looking for a wall colour. Wallpaper has been stripped off two walls and I need to cover the shocking pink! I was toying with dark green but when I put up a tester, it resembled frog spawn. I don’t want grey. Any ideas please?

Do I need to sand walls before painting

I'm painting a room a new colour and wondering if I have to sand the entire wall before the undercoat/primer and coats. I've watched videos which talk about the need to fill holes and then sand the wall. Does sanding the wall only refer to the areas around where the filler was used, or do you have to sand the whole wall regardless. Wall has no holes and was previously painted. Can I just go straight to prime and paint?

My irregular shaped stacked stone wall in the LR needs distraction

I recently bought a house that has a stacked stone wall behind a pellet stove. The wall has half vaulted ceilings and the first five feet is 6 ft wide then it narrows to 42 inches wide, sort of a chimney effect. I don’t think 🤔 can remove the wider bottom without pulling off the good stone and to add stone the eye would see the piecing. I send a picture?im painting the room a Kinda grayge but I still need some thing to distract the eye from the chimney shape. I thought of planking the sides with barn siding . Please any suggestions

I love yellow but I think it looks better in the accessories and furniture rather than the main paint colour

This shade of yellow was on one walls of the lounge of the house I am leasing - it is an 'in your face' shade - did not put me in good humour at all! Have since painted over it (with landlord's permission) in a soft 'morning glory' shade of yellow/old gold and I just love, love, love it! Talk about a mood booster!!!

Yellow is too brash and I think you would get sick of it pretty quickly - I'd go for some shade of green but not sure shade you have chosen is really a shade for a living room - it looks more like a restful bedroom shade as per the shot - could you go for more exciting vibrant shade of green?
