The obvious choices are in the blue-gray range. Take an extra floor tile down to the tile shop (a scap of countertop would be useful, too), pick out backsplash tile samples to borrow and see what you like once it's in the kitchen. Then pick the paint color to go with flooring and backsplash choice. Your gray countertop goes well with the tile.
A significant improvement in overall looks and function could come from adding another large upper cabinet over the base cabinet behind the table, and closing off the unused dishwasher space by the sink.
It has so much potential. There seem to be some things that need completing- are you finishing a remodel? What colors are you drawn to? Bright, earthy or soft muted? Start there first. Are you looking for a contemporary or country look? More pics standing back further so we can see the whole space would help. Can you repurpose your table and paint the chairs?
@kklinton This is a house we just bought and I really like the tiles so would like to keep them so I have to work around them. I would like a warm contemporary look, not necessarily bright and airy but not cold if that makes sense. Here are some more pics.
@apple_pie_order, I've been looking at the bluegrey range and some of them are really great and I can see how they would work with my tiles, just have to make sure I dont end up with a sterile kitchen.
I am afraid blur will be limiting. I like the idea of gray, then in bring in the blue with accents. I would remove the lone cabinet on the left. Is it possible for you to build a pantry? A place to store the freezer is my goal with that. Where is your refrigerator? Just trying to get the lay of the land. A pantry would not be any deeper than the cabinet already there and with a sliding door you free up lots of space. Build it the width you need to fit the freezer and then about a 12 -18inch wide shelf space for boxed items, cereal etc. Leave enough room to fit your refrigerator next to it...about 30 -32 inches is needed. It looks like you have nearly 7 feet to play with. I know this pic is a washer/dryer, but just to give you the feel.
I like the idea of a pantry instead of the lone cabinet. There is a built in cabinet for the fridge next to the patio doors facing towards the sink and the door to the utility room is just next to it so cant put freezer there. Would the colour of the cabinets go with the blue-grey though or should I go darker?
