Dresser in Hallway - Ideas for traditional/countrystyle accessories

I have attached a picture of a dresser which we have placed in our hallway. I am looking for some good ideas to accessorise it keeping it traditional/countrystyle as we live on a farm.

I was thinking of some photo's mainly black and white maybe. I don't want to over clutter it but spend on some quality pieces. I would appreciate some advice please and some places where I could purchase this online.

Are you looking to finish the piece or leave the wood as is? Consider painting the back of the cabinet an accent color....maybe green or red? Is this off a kitchen or living room....what room is it closest to? The reason I ask is if it is close to the kitchen the obvious accessories are plates etc. A wooden bowl with either pine cones or wooden fruit, lemons? pears? Any pics you put on the shelf would have to be small, so I am not sure of the impact they would have. It would be cool to use a panoramic pic and hang at the back of the shelves. What about a picture of the farm? Antiques repurposed- these spools could be painted fun colors.

I'm in agreement with kklinton's idea of painting the back of the cabinet. Black would look good too. You may want to consider applying tongue oil or wax to it to protect it if you're going to leave it natural looking.

I agree with everything said so far. Would suggest you get built in book shelvers on both sides of fireplace, lift tv into a slot it fits perfectly into (make sure you have power on both sides). Then it will disappear more rather than fight with fireplace as focal point. I am always disappointed with mirrors over fireplaces, they become dark, are to high to reflect much. Plus then you have three rectangles fighting for center stage. I'd say very colorful artwork instead. Wonder if you can reorient tv where the big chairs are so both tv and fireplace are addressed? Color, maybe you should decide on furniture first?

You could do a bench with a top that opened for storage. This way family & guests have a place to sit and take off their shoes or boots when entering. You could also put hooks on the wall above the bench for a place to hang coats or keys. A second option could be a sideboard or dresser. This would also provide storage and you could put decorative accessories on the top of it and hang a nice picture on the wall.

I would also definitely go white if the windows are on the green wall. Will be much more natural to tie the accent wall with the stark wht contrasting walls. Always a very chic contemporary look. Also very relaxing as opposed to the treatments standing out when you already have your standout feature- the green accent wall. Great white bed you ordered! Then I love all the blue/green/ silver accent advice. I did a similar room in purples/greys/ whites and we used great posted prints of florals with a little oriental flair in nice big mats w frames. You could do florals or nice big botanicals in greens would be very fresh and modern!! White or silver frames or maybe even the shock of black would be cool.

Adding width BEHIND THE BED - with a headboard (which doesn't have to be a "headboard"; it could be fabric, collection of mirrors, collection of pictures, a farm gate!, small chairs or stools) across the entire width. Matching bedside tables/bookcases/chests/ with LAMPS - useful storage for extra books, extra bedding, etc. CURTAINS always warm up a room. People will always feel colder away from home - provide an extra blanket or duvet to add to the bed. I notice there is no WARDROBE. Not really necessary for overnight guests (provide hooks on the back of the door) but useful for storing your out-of-season coats, etc. There is plenty of room behind the door. Buy one on eBay and paint it to suit your colour scheme.

I would not buy things from typical on-line stores. I would search Ebay and Etsy to find one of a kind pieces. I would also scourer antique stores.

The hall appears to be the entry. so the dresser will be used as a landing for car keys and mail, etc.
a nice looking craft container for holding these will be utilitarian.
It looks like there are glass doors on the upper unit. Adding interior light could be interesting and replacing the( movable?)middle shelf with glass shelf would allow the light to illuminate the entire section. Most important what are your hobbies, interests? - the deco should come from these personal interests.

Your hutch and wall color are very neutral, so I would suggest colorful items that will get noticed. Don't overspend on accessories; look for vintage items that you can switch out seasonally...a collection of birdhouses, spongeware bowls, a collection of plates, baskets. Do a houzz search for "country hutch" for inspiration to create an attractive, uncluttered display.
