What floor?

I am building a modest open plan house all on one level. The interior will be very light, white, modern and airy. I need your help deciding on the flooring? The same through out, different colours in different rooms, different types in different rooms? I have two dogs, will be building in a rural area where the outdoors comes indoors very easily, and will have underfloor heating installed. What do you think my fellow Houzzers?

Hi. I'd go for the same flooring throughout as it will make the space feel bigger although you could do the bathrooms in a different floor if wanted. I'd look at either karndean or amtico wood effect (which is fine with ufh up to 27 degrees). Alternatively wood effect porcelain tiles. They are easy to keep clean but could be a little cold/hard underfoot ( when the heating isn't on!). You could always add a low tog value rug for the sofa area and under the beds if wanted. I have read that a few people say their dogs claw cause tiny scratches on karndean although others have said not

Hi. totally off point but....

Have you ever considered a real interesting eye catching piece of art work to really brighten up this area I think a select piece of art would really make the space stand out, add interest, colour, texture and add a great talking/thinking point to the room....

Please check out my website if like the idea and please get in contact, commission work is also welcomed so if you like a particular style I can do in a select colour palette and size but with this it can only be done as a original piece and not a print..... but all prints i can do to the same size or smaller than my original paintings, so lots of options........

The key is seeing the potential a room has.You should choose a color similar to the white oak doors to make the room appear bigger. a darker floor would accentuate the small scale of the floor. Cheers for that,. Ya, think you could be right about the border and to be honest it wouldn’t be the same without it so that’s causing me to lean towards timber. I’m putting paneling half way up left hand side of the hallway. Here’s photo of space from opposite angle. Ignore all the bits in the way!! There’s a larder going too left hand corner and coat cupboard on left inside the door.
