Glad you liked the room. The paint colour I used is Farrow & Ball Dix Blue. The effect is really dependent on the lighting in the room so if you don't have a lot of light it will look a lot darker!

I would go with what the architect suggested. That was my immediate thought and also means that you will get light into your living area all day since the kitchen would be at the front and the living room at the back. It will be a nicer space to live in. If you really can't face bedrooms at the front though could you do something like this? It clearly isn't to scale!! You probably sacrifice a bit of space in that smallest bedroom but gain much more liveable floor space at the front of the house. It also gives your husband the open pan area he likes. It does sacrifice a separate entrance way though. I'd also shift the bathroom wall out and steal some space from the utility room so that you have a larger bathroom.

Lovely bright room, I would use very discrete neutral blinds so as not to take away from lovely window views. I like your couches & their position. I would perhaps get a larger rug which could be placed slightly underneath the front of both couches which can look good and I would update my cushions and perhaps vary the colour & size slightly to tie in with the rug. I've included some images below which may give you ideas and there are plenty more beautiful rugs etc out there. A light fitting for your ceiling & a low vase of flowers on your coffee table would look great too. Have fun!
