I saw a TV programme once where a lady with dwarfism looked into such options - it was really good, there are some great ideas out there. She ended up with a mixture of heights, so that other people could also use the kitchen e.g. staggered heights of worktops etc. There were cupboards that could be brought down in height by remote control. Depends on budget. I guess you will need specialist advice but it is definitely doable. Worktops are easy as you can get sneaky flip out sections at lower heights etc. Cupboards are pretty easy too. I guess the sink and cooker are more difficult - I wonder if they could be installed at below ground level so that the top is lower than it would normally be? You can get dish drawers rather than a normal sized dishwasher also, which will make it easier to access.

Kitchen cabinet layout - need help deciding!

We are building a new kitchen and need to decide on the order of cabinets. See the design attached. There is space on the wall behind the island for for: - Boiler (needs to stay in far left corner) - Fridge - Oven / Microwave - Pull-Out Larder The latest design has them in the order as above (left to right). Looking for other's opinions on how best to order the oven, fridge and larder. Any other thoughts welcome!

Thanks Jenny, that's great information, will check out that site, you hit the nail in the head with the stool & Island - that's what I am hoping to do but need to check & price every little detail before work can begin, especially as I have to redesign most of the downstairs of my house with build quotes coming in at 6 figures before I buy the kitchen. Thanks again

My advice is to visit an independent kitchen showroom.
Oftentimes they have access to more standard priced options than the big kitchen firms.
Reduced height cabinets can be set at almost any height by wall hanging them, or changing the plinth height or having bespoke feet.
Since standing is a challenge I presume you will also need to talk to them about pull out units (all of my crockery is in drawers which is much easier to access) you can also put fridges, ovens etc at any height making them easier to access.
You might also look at different oven doors, some slide underneath or open to the side making access to the oven easier.
You can get dishwashers the size of a single oven which might be easier to load and of course can be set at any height.
If your overall strength is compromised you might choose bigger handles to open cabinets.
If you want over counter cabinets you might choose to have reduced depth base cabinets to improve access to the cabinets above.
You can get extractors that work with a remote control which helps future proof your kitchen if at a later date you find yourself sitting more or unable to stand.

Great ideas Jonathan, thank you so much for them, the future proofing is what I am trying to do, so not rushing into it yet, happy with my current reconfiguration ideas, just want to get a shopping list of things like you mentioned so I can go look at them to see what works for me. Most of all I don't want a kitchen that screams what I can't do - I want a kitchen that everyone says WOW & then enjoys my cooking lol

... working through every inch of your design with your designer will be time well spent ! I hope you can find a team who can design/supply/install for you locally - but if you are having trouble finding someone who can devote that extra time for the very specific design that will enable you to tick all your boxes - and you want an alternative - perhaps consider hiring an independent designer ( like me !) - then shop around with your specific plans. This may be a way of getting the extra one to one time you need - without then feeling beholden to buying at just that one shop ?!
