Designing a small bungalow refurbishment and can't decide whether it should be all wood floor or all (herringbone weave wool carpet) Art Deco style fit out; warm, cosy and sophisticated .
Wood is good (ensure its from sustainable sources) but can look cold and be noisy, and is not friendly for children to play on. Its ideal with a rug or a large piece of carpet on top.
Thanks for the replies - Client is in her 60's - not many kids but I see almost all spaces are wood floors now with rugs on top . Has a serious impact on budget however as the cost for rugs has to be added to the wood floor - rug could cost the same as the floor in the room !
I don't know what the rest of the decor is like but parquet is perfect for this era or go for black and what tiles. Did they not also use Lino?! That could be a lot cheaper! It depends how "themed" the Art Deco style is. Maybe just go for a cheaper option floor and add geometric rugs? Or have you looked at karndean parquet floor?
