our bathroom

We are knocking down a wall to join our en suite and master bathroom together as both are so small. We are taking out the bath and replacing it with a walk in shower about 1200 mls.
I don't know if I want it contemporary, vintage, or what colour scheme to go for. I love the colour blue, and grey. Help!!

Hi. I hope you don't mind me saying but removing one of the bathrooms may potentially devalue the property even if they are small. Removing the bath may also alienate any families when it comes to selling. Maybe check with an estate agent unless this isn't an issue for you. Have you thought about combining a bath with a really decent shower? Luxury hotels often do this. In terms of style, what is the rest of the house like? Look at the light in the room for colours, you can go dark but combine with really decent lighting. If you like blue, why not try navy and white maybe with some bright accessories? Navy is very on trend at the moment (and a classic bathroom colour!) but can't find a great bathroom image. I personally would go for something fairly classic with a couple of contemporary elements.

Mary, I am very glad to hear from you. I think of you often. It hurt me terribly when that unthoughtful person said what she said. I can only imagine how it must have hurt you. I would love to see how you have decorated for Christmas. I am almost certain there are differences between how our 2 countries do it. For the time being (and this IS only a temporary fix) try using a water based penetrating sealer on the grout. I stress water based, because solvent based sealers today are made to be "breatheable", meaning they allow moisture to transmit back and forth, while the water based sealers will repel water. You still need to address this in a more permanent manner (the glass door is a good idea, but it wouldn't hurt to remove the bathroom floor tile, waterproof the floor, and install a new tile floor), but this will help until you can afford to do what you need to do.

Hi there, We're in Kilkenny and we're lighting designers. A lot depends on budget but if you are re-fitting areas we could recommend fittings for the walls plus how about highlighting the top of wall with a good bathroom uplighter around edge - LED perhaps. The issue is that it is too flat as the colours are similar. If you added more depths of light it would help greatly. Of course we do a full range of bathroom fittings too so even a simple thing like two well chosen wall lights would help significantly.
