Hi, I had thought I would have pure white kitchen cabinets but all kitchen stores are putting me off. I am buying painted MDF but with a factory finish. my island houses the sink and dishwasher and bins and my kids are 3 and 4. My only other option in factory finish is Cornforth White. Is it too grey? Is it too common? Will it date it's such an "in" colour? I'm loosing was too much sleep? I contemplateD white back wall and slate grey island. I would have liked a deep blue island but that can only come in a painted look and I'm not mad on the finish. This is a relatuvely low budget off the shelf kitchen. Help please!
Fads come and go. Pick what you love, not what is in style. Make your home yours.
Take samples to your home of all the materials you think your may like, cover colors that you are not going to keep with some white paper and live with the samples for a few days. The lighting in your home and the other colors that you have in your kitchen and in the adjoining rooms will guide your selection. I have done this often and every time I walk into a room with samples I find myself drawn to one or another consistantly and the decision is made based on what feels good to me.
I like contrasting Islands, especially white cabinets and dark wood islands. The other choice is to use the same cabinets on both and different counter tops. Play with different ideas, but always look at the samples in your own home.
