I need help designing a room/all round room that is facing a college

I am currently live in a really nice homeless hostel...it's a reasonably sized room with a cooker, microwave, a lot of counter space, a table and two chairs. However there is only one single bed and it faces the cooker. I am also looking directly into the windows of a university on it's top floors! I am on the fourth floor up! It also has a lino for the floor...I cannot change that...everything I have has to be fire retardant and I can't paint the walls...yet, I wanna design the room to be calming and motivating at the same time...help!!!
