Guest bedroom with white sleigh bed & matching furniture. Following advice, have painted walls a pale grey (which looks lovely against white). Floor is oak & needs a rug but would welcome any suggestions for colours for dressing bed & also curtains. Many thanks.

White curtains and a white 'blackout blind ' then add a throw and a cushion or two in colours to complement the season - ie have one set spring - say daffodil yellow or crocus purples etc
Look at what you see from the windows to maybe inspire you ? Or a Japanese maple outside the window might inspire your autumnal choice !

How about a traditional sheepskin rug for the floor, this will look great on the wood and is lovely for bare feet when you get out of bed in the morning! As for the curtains and bedding, with grey walls and white furniture, you have the liberty to do as you like. Personally, I would add some pattern with colour in the curtains (nothing too garish!) attached is a pattern by Romo. I would keep the bed linen a plain colour, below is Secret Linen Store, relaxed denim bedding in Graphite Grey then you can add some pattern and colour with cushions and throws. If you like slightly bolder colour patterns, Bluebellgray also do some lovely fabrics in bold but beautiful prints. I hope the suggestions help!

Colourwise I would look at apportioning your colours like so… Soft warm grey on the walls. If this is possible, tie in a subtle paper on one wall in similar colour. If a carpet is needed, just a shade down from the walls, to ground it but retain the soft base grey. Small amount of brown in dark wood, on furniture. But try and keep it light. No chunky dark woods. Choose slim legs and profiles. All loose fabrics such as floor length curtains, or roman blinds. Duvet cover, pillow cases, keep white. Accents on trims, cushions and accessories, can be quite flexible here. Could be mustard, or fuschia. But choose one colour that works and stick to it. Then just try to have soft textures in keeping with a cosy bedroom. Looking through to the en-suite. You can expand on you accent colour here, and use that to invite you in. One wall painted fuschia, or statement glass tiles. But you want the view in to be inviting. Try and use that if you can. I hope that helps.

As the rest of your house is decorated in muted colours with the exception of the bathroom), I would stick with that. Duck egg/pale blues and pale greens or chalky pink would be very restful for bedrooms. Or navy blue looks smart with a neutral scheme.

Thank you for good ideas and lovely fabrics. I agree sheepskin would be great. The Romo fabric would suit particularly well. Your help is much appreciated.

Hi, here are some sheepskins, but also consider Flokati rugs - great if you like the Scandi look.Flokati are graded by the weight of the wool (in grams) per square meter of the rug.
