Decorating narrow hallway

I have a narrow dark hallway and I want to redecorate to brighten it up. I will be painting the dark banisters in cream. Not sure whether to paint or wallpaper. OI will be replacing the carpet on stairs and landing. I will either use plain carpet and wallpaper or pattern carpet and paint. Any ideas appreciated.

Narrow and dark.
If you can add metallic paint or wallpaper or even mirror on one side you can visually open up the narrowness so it doesn't feel so long and straight.
Paint is easier to remove but some wallpapers add great depth which also serve to widen a narrow hallway.
Be sure to consider lighting as well.

The example below (hopefully) demonstrates how mirror and wallpaper opened up a very narrow hallway...

Lighting, a mirror and a reflective floor would help with the lighting. Another clever trick would be to open some the space between wall studs for shallow display niches.

Not quite for the kitchen. Sorry, I should have drawn it...the units set on the bottom ŵall are correct but just in a straight line..The other part of the L shape is on ŵall B on your plan. The dining table would be in front of the units on the bottom ŵall. If unclear (quite possibly from my description!) I'll post a pic tomorrow

You say you plan on having a toy area under the window. I suggest that which ever color of paint you choose for the hallway, make sure it can be washed easily. Children are hard on hallway walls.

Hi, great sized hallway! If it were me I would hang one large picture over the table and maybe move the pictures already there to another wall.. a large chandelier or light of your choice would fill up the ceiling also a large rug for the floor would 'warm' the space nicely..Good luck!
