I'm stripping out our old bathroom and starting from scratch again. My question, should I go floor to ceiling tiles or just where needed ie. around bath/shower? The existing floor to ceiling tiles (about 10yrs old) are very dated and I don't want to end up in the same situation in 10yrs time with more dated tiles. If I go with floor to ceiling tiles again what is my safest bet in colour for not dating?
Tastes change with time - and fashion promotes the latest trends so that eventually what ever you choose could look dated... It's what keeps business going - so maybe only tile where it's needed... Personally, if I were choosing for myself, I'd choose plain white in the largest tile with absolute minimum grout as I hate when the grout looks old / grubby as always happens . Then I'd add colour with towels that could be changed to give a different feel when I fancied a change if you see what I mean !
That's my taste - yours could be totally different ! There's loads of beautiful pics on Houzz - best idea is to do a bathroom search and see what appeals to you ! Then think is it practical ? Can I afford it ? Will it suit the house !
If you are doing the floor too - adding underfloor heating is a lovely way to keep an ambient temperature and- let's face it - it's kinder on bare feet too !!
Hi I'm in the same position as you at the moment but we decided we will probably tile floor to ceiling only in the shower bath area with a black brick effect tile and then paint the rest of the room so that we could change the colour in the bathroom later if we need to
