Moving to new house advice

hi all, so we're moving to a second hand house that has been rented for 6 years & badly needs some tlc. looking for some advice as to were to start. needs new flooring, tiling, painting, massive clean, new kitchen cabinets, new blinds/curtains. so wondering what comes first? presume there's no point cleaning until all the work is complete. its really in a bad way. Thanks in advance;)

I guess it depends if you need to live in it straight away or if you have a bit of time beforehand. I think I would personally need to have bedrooms painted and carpeted and a bathroom useable. If your kitchen units are been ripped out could you do this before moving in? If it's as bad as you say I would be inclined to rip all carpets out and get it fresh-not ideal painting around new carpets but you could do that gradually-i could put up with dirty paint but not dirty carpet...just my thoughts. If it's just cosmetic I can't imagine it being too much of a disturbance.

If you like sash windows why not look at the attached or maybe consider a New England style houses as sashes were common? Is the ground floor of the house wide enough to take a door and 2 windows?

not alot happening at the moment, its winter! alotta rain, lotta. but i am bedding down to get this over with and maybe in the spring the spirits will rise once more. i hope so. i would love to feel i was doing something to keep my hopes and dreams alive, i dont see what i can do until the spring. when i bring the topic up, especially to those that moved away and came down this neck of the woods, they say they had friends who felt it was too far too and moved back home. i guess thats how i feel, thats what i want and i just want to be a bit more uplifted, i think rain dampens down things a bit!!! santa Ma Margaret!
