need help choosing a backsplash

My kitchen is overwhelmed by espresso cabinets and Baltic Brown granite countertops everywhere. Help me choose a backsplash. If I am fortunate enough to be able to replace the countertops before adding a backsplash--any recommendations. I like quartz-- something that resembles marble. The walls are Kilim Beige and the floor is a similar color tile.

Your kitchen is really quite lovely with its dark cabinets and countertops. I suspect that with better lighting you could have a wonderfully sophisticated look. However, if you want a change, I'd go with Caesarstone Frosty Carrina which resembles Carrara a bit.

For your backsplash, with what you have now, I would select a light taupe glass subway tile.

I agree, glass subway tiles would lighten things up. Perhaps a larger size ( 12x12).

Thank you for your suggestions and ideas! I love some of the more daring/colourful ideas, but I don't think I'm, personally, bold enough to go with such a contemporary look. I'm going to stick to a traditional/modern style and use large (4" x 8") white subway tiles and dark grey grout. I'm thinking of using a dark grey paint around the kitchen walls and then a lighter shade around the rest of the room, with maybe the dark grey on the wall behind the TV too. Will be a few more weeks before that's all done, but I'll post a picture when I eventually get there. Thanks again!

Your tile looks like it might have a bit of a soft gray/olive green in it so I'd go with a light olive green. Here are some color ideas as the page you posted isn't big enough for me to really see the colors.

Hexagonal tile backsplash - which grout

Hi there! We think a white grout is probably your best option here, if you don't want it to look too busy. This is one of our hexagon mosaic tile displays we have in the TileStyle showroom and we have used white grout for this. As you can see, the shape of the tile is still very much visible but it's still a more subtle look that's not too busy. Agree with Carolyn---but if you do decide to keep the counter-remove the 4" return before installing a backsplash... Beautiful kitchen---the wall color and floor is lovely... Good Luck!
